Departures from an idiom of lyrical abstraction, Minakshi’s recent paintings communicate themselves as aubades and nocturnes, portraits of the celestial sphere in various moods. Minakshi in her current series of paintings departs from her earlier narrative executions laden with wit, satire and irony and returns to the essence painterly aesthetic, tries to devise the various characteristic of darkness or absence of light. Minakshi’s paintings in her latest series of paintings ‘…..therefore I am !” are not the reactions but the ‘responses’ to the social injustice and imbalance seen proliferated in the gender relationships in our society.
